Car Guide: Infotainment Systems 101

Did you know that new infotainment systems are fully integrating with your smartphones? It is truly the era of hands-free and voice-enabled commands with the latest software installed in new vehicles. Now you can simply access everything in your vehicle or on your smartphone through the infotainment display in your center console. All manufacturers have different features available with infotainment software, and some of it does cost extra. For example, most infotainment systems do not come standard with GPS navigation and satellite radio.

However, all vehicles typically have an infotainment system that can access music, driver safety features, and other apps on your smartphone. Infotainment systems can hook into your phone through Bluetooth or USB. You can use your infotainment system to see apps display on the screen just like you would with your phone, allowing you to access anything through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
